Front Office
Procedures
These courses will familiarize the student
with procedures that are commonly implemented
in the medical office. The topics will include
patient, telephone communication, and
appointment management, and filing. |

Exam Procedures
This course will cover the responsibility for
preparation of patient examination and
procedures performed by the physician. |

Minor Surgical
Procedures.
This course will cover microbiology,
pathology, and vital signs. In addition minor
surgical procedures relating to the management
of medical emergencies. |

Lab Procedures
This class is designed to teach Medical
Assistant students various methods of
collecting blood including evacuated blood
collection, syringe drawing of blood,
butterfly method of drawing blood. Patient
preparation and instruction for special
procedures. Patient and medical assistant’s
safety and post care of the patient both in
cases of the blood draw and the EKG
examination. Students will learn various
methods of collecting blood including
evacuated blood collection, syringe drawing of
blood, butterfly methods of drawing blood.

Support
This course will help the students be able to
manage emergencies in the medical office,
acute illness and first aid in accidents and
injuries. |

Basic health
Insurance/Medical Documentation
This is an introduction course for all
students entering into computers training.
Student will learn the basics of computer
operations. The student will receive extensive
training in all aspects of window operations.
Providing students with all of the necessary
skills to achieve a high level of expertise in
selected office applications. Through
classroom, practice and training, students
will attain all of the key skills required in
the business world. By taking typing lessons,
schedule appointments, compose business
letters, filing, obtaining medical triage and
build a resume with employment skills.

Diagnostic/Procedural Coding
This course will
teach the students the knowledge of basic
coding definitions and how to apply those
codes to medical documentation. Student will
understand why modifiers are added to CPT
codes. And know the difference between new and
an established patient. The students will the
difference between primary diagnosis and
principal diagnosis along with knowing
preventive care in the ICD-9 codes.

Health
Insurance Claim Form/Billing
This part of the course will teach the student
how to prepare a claim form manually and
understand how to fill out different types of
insurances forms for different types of
insurance plans. Students will understand
step-by-step how general billing guidelines
are common to most carriers. And understand
why claims are accepted and some are not.

Private
Insurance & Managed Care Systems
This part of the course will cover all the
steps the student has learned and know how to
fill-out commercial insurance claim forms for
blue cross and blue shield, medicare,
Medicaid, tricare, and worker’ compensation.
The student will know how all these insurances
plans are handled by processing insurance
claim forms covered: Skeletal System, Muscular
System, Circulatory System and Immune System.
And students will cover how to follow the OSHA
guidelines and learn about infection control,
EKG and injections including capillary
punctures and Venipuncture during lab
procedures.

Development
The purpose of this course is to give the
students techniques that will assist them in
acquiring career level employment. The
techniques taught are: interviewing skills,
how to conduct a successful job search,
discovering the hidden job market, preparing
effective resumes and cover letters as well as
hands-on preparation through mock interviews. |
